Yard/Warehouse Rep I
About the role
Northern Building Supply operates two full-service lumber yards and is the region's premier supplier of premium building materials to contractors and homeowners. This entry-level position involves receiving, stocking, shipping, ordering, and counting inventory items.
Responsibilities
- Operate safely
- Participate in a positive work environment
- Assist warehouse associates and direct supervisor in maintaining an organized work environment
- Empty trash receptacles
- Keep all bays and staging areas clean and organized
- Receive incoming products, commodities, and materials
- Count and record receipt of materials
- Stock all material received in appropriate bins or storage locations
- Aid inventory control in counting and organizing warehouse materials
- Comply with all company policies and guidelines
- Operate forklift with foot and hand controls
- Load completed orders onto delivery equipment using forklift
- Operate facility equipment as necessary (e.g. bander, power tools, various hand tools)
- Maintain an awareness of the work environment to produce error-free and damage-free results
- Complete assigned trainings
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- No experience required
Skills and Abilities
- Basic math skills
- Ability to read orders, write instructions, and complete forms
- Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with customers, other employees, and supervisors using verbal and written skills
- Constructive problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with current technologies (Smartphone, Inventory Control Systems, and other necessary business applications)
