YARD TRUCK DRIVER

About the role

This position involves operating an automatic Ottawa Yard Truck to move loaded and unloaded trailers within Reverse Logistics Centers. Key responsibilities include maximizing operational efficiency, minimizing safety incidents, and making decisions regarding trailer movements.

Responsibilities

• Makes decisions regarding the movement of trailers to maximize efficiency and minimize safety incidents.
• Operates an automatic Ottawa Yard Truck with the ability to maneuver 53' long trailers into tight spaces without causing damage.
• Daily equipment checks such as checking fluid levels, cleaning air filters, examining equipment for damage or leaks, and ensuring loads are secure.
• Inspects loads to ensure they are secure.
• Operates a forklift to move pallets or materials on pallets or in crates around the storage facility.
• Stacks pallets or materials in the correct manner, following inventory control instructions.
• Examines products to verify conformance to quality standards.
• Maintains a clean and safe working environment that meets Relogistics standards.

Requirements

• Prior experience driving a yard truck or semi is a plus, not required.
• Good math, language, and reading skills with attention to detail.
• Basic computer skills.
• A high degree of attention required to prevent injury to others and promote a safe work environment.
• Ability to work in extreme conditions including heat, cold, and air particulates.
• Repetitively adjust body position to bend, stoop, walk, turn, pivot, and stand for entire shifts of varying lengths.
• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required (eye protection, ear protection is mandatory at several locations, safety shoes).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to pass a drug screening.

Pay

Hourly Pay: $19.00/hr
