This role involves assisting customers with yard materials, loading, unloading, and stocking materials in the lumber yard and warehouse, and maintaining a safe work environment. The position is onsite at our store; remote work is not available.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers, assess their needs, and evaluate invoices to determine the level of assistance required.
- Direct customers to purchased materials and assist with safe, efficient loading.
- Communicate with the sales and yard team to ensure prompt, coordinated customer service.
- Assist customers in loading and unloading materials, verifying accuracy against paid invoices.
- Pull loads for delivery, bundle materials safely for transport on company trucks.
- Develop knowledge of materials, their locations, and uses, noting that similar-looking products may differ.
- Proactively learn about the products we sell.
- Embrace and live by our Core Values in every customer and team interaction.
- Operate forklifts and light trucks safely after receiving proper training, supervisor approval, and certification.
- Report unsafe conditions, product or property damage, and accidents immediately.
- Use radial arm and panel saws to cut materials for customers as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of the job.
- 1-3 months of experience preferred.
- High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Must successfully pass our MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) requirements.
Physical Requirements
- Heavy work: Exerting up to 100 pounds seldom, 50-80 pounds occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds frequently to move objects.
- Standing and/or walking all the time; occasional stooping and kneeling; seldom crouching or crawling.
- Occasional climbing (ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles) using feet, legs, hands, and arms; body agility is emphasized.
- Balancing to maintain body equilibrium on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces.
- Visual acuity to detect, identify, and observe.
- Seldom sitting, except for forklift operation.

Pay
Starting wages will be based on years of experience and education.
