Yard Manager

About the role

The Yard Manager oversees the daily operations of the yard area, including production coordination, inventory management, material handling, equipment operation and utilization, and workforce supervision.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and supervise all yard activities.
• Ensure daily production and delivery schedules are achieved.
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment, following all OSHA, company, and industry guidelines.
• Maintain accurate inventory records of finished products, raw materials, and supplies.
• Optimize yard layout and storage practices to improve efficiency and product access.
• Supervise, train, and coach yard personnel while establishing performance expectations and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain 100% accuracy on all loaded products.
• Oversee the operations and maintenance of forklifts, cranes, loaders, trailers, and other yard equipment, including ensuring all required inspections and preventative maintenance is completed when scheduled.
• Continuously improve knowledge and skills through training and/or education to stay current on industry trends/best practices.

Qualifications

• High diploma or equivalent, Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Operations Management, or related field, preferred.
• Minimum five years’ experience in a manufacturing environment, precast concrete, construction materials, or heavy industrial operations.
• Three or more years’ supervisory or management experience.
• Previous experience as an equipment operator required.
• Proven ability to lead and maintain effective organization and workflow optimization efforts in a large-scale manufacturing or industrial setting.
• Able to work in varying environments including but not limited to extensive walking, lifting, and standing.
• Self-motivated to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Strong leadership, communication, and time-management skills, with demonstrated proficiency in ERP systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and other operational and business management software.
