Yard Lead
About the role
The Yard Lead is responsible for supporting daily yard operations while providing hands-on leadership to Yard Associates. This position serves as the first level of guidance above the Yard Associate role and helps ensure that materials, equipment, tools, and staging assets are received, organized, pulled, loaded, maintained, and accounted for safely and efficiently. The Yard Lead works closely with yard leadership, warehouse personnel, logistics teams, and project teams to maintain an organized yard, support accurate inventory movement, and keep work flowing according to operational priorities. This is a full-time, direct-hire position for a dependable, safety-minded team player who can lead by example, communicate clearly, and help set the standard for productivity, accountability, and professionalism in the yard.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Train and provide work direction to assigned personnel
- Maximizes productivity of personnel by proper training and supervision
- Handle incoming and outgoing shipments by checking them physically
- Maintain a variety of records, files and reports
- Check products for defects and accuracy
- Pull, pack and ship finished goods
- Load, unload, prepare, inspect and operate delivery vehicle
- Inspect machinery to determine the need for repairs and perform regular maintenance
- Unload materials and merchandise from incoming vehicles and stack them to assigned places
- Pull orders from shelves, and then place and secure onto pallet
- Communicate with managers to identify equipment in need of maintenance
- Ensure appropriate safety measures are followed
- Make sure that tools and equipment are cleaned and maintained properly at the end of each shift
- Help maintain a safe and orderly environment of the facilities
- May have key and security access. May oversee the building at times
Requirements
- Pass background check and drug screening requirements
- At least two years of experience in delivery, warehousing, receiving, issuing, packing, shipping and/or storage of goods strongly preferred
- Familiar with basic hand tools
- Attention to detail and familiarity with industrial equipment
- Able to work overtime
- Candidate should be able to read and understand safety instructions
- Small engine repair and maintenance skills preferred but not required
- Must be willing to complete forklift training
- Forklift experience and license preferred
Compensation
$25-$27 hourly
