Yard Jockey - 2nd Shift

Yard Jockey operates a diesel powered tractor‑trailer combination, bringing trailers to and from loading docks and the yard for loading and unloading.

Responsibilities

• Pull trailers away from loading docks to be staged in the yard.
• Back trailers to loading docks.
• Perform safety checks on yard equipment and trailers.
• Monitor yard for refrigerated equipment operation and maintain temperature.
• Adjust temperature set point on refrigeration units and report shut‑down codes to supervisor.
• Open and close various doors on trailers, secure trailers with locks or seals.
• Maintain radio contact with shipping personnel to receive instructions on when and where to move trailers or other company equipment.
• Maintain a log of yard moves for the shift.

Requirements

Experience helpful, but will train an individual who has a good driving record. MVR may be pulled for verification.

• Ability to speak English.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
