Yard Forklift Operator

About the role
This is a general yard worker role focused on assembling orders, wrapping completed pallets, and loading them onto customer vehicles using a forklift.
Responsibilities
- Receive customer order slips from supervisor, gather correct products by hand or with forklift, and assemble orders for customer pickup.
- Safely utilize forklift to move completed pallets to staging areas or load pallets onto vehicles.
- Work directly with customers in a friendly, professional, and positive manner to check orders.
- Perform basic, routine maintenance on forklifts, including recharging batteries, lubricating, fueling, and cleaning.
- Maintain clean and orderly housekeeping in assigned area.
- Perform other duties related to the nature of the job as assigned on a temporary or permanent basis.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; minimum of two years of related experience in trades, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must be able to pass an internal certification program.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently.
- Basic math skills: ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Maintain a high level of accuracy in all aspects of work assignments.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule.
- Previous experience operating a forklift or other heavy equipment (e.g., front-end loader or bulldozer).
- Frequent standing for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 100 lbs.
- Ability to withstand repetitive motion of the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder.
