Responsibilities
- Drives tractors and trailers with capacity of more than three tons and usually with more than six wheels to transport materials to and from specified destinations.
- Operates shuttles to move trailers between buildings, staging areas, and loading dock doors, following instructions via radio.
- Performs daily maintenance checks on shuttle trucks and reports any malfunctions to the garage.
- Documents all trailer moves on Yard Driver daily move sheets and submits them to the shipping office upon completing the shift.
- Fuels the yard truck as needed.
- Performs daily maintenance checks on tractor-trailer units, including coupling and uncoupling, connecting and disconnecting brake lines, and conducting safety inspections according to DOT regulations.
- Safely secures all equipment and completes necessary paperwork at the end of each shift.
- Achieves continuous improvement by identifying process improvements and adheres to Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Complies with all Department of Transportation regulations and follows Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Maintains a clean, sanitary, and safe work area and follows all required work safety practices, including wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Ensures food safety and quality in designated areas, reporting any issues to management immediately.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Experience preferred but not required.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Experience within the food and beverage industry preferred.
- Able to stand, walk, and climb into and out of tractor trailers virtually the entire shift.
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Able to work in outdoor conditions (year-round) with moderate noise.
- May perform duties indoors and outdoors.
- Willing to work overtime and on holidays.
- Able to effectively work in a team environment.
- Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must have a clean driving record.
- Must pass all pre-employment screens (including drug, background, and criminal checks).
Pay & Schedule
$22.77 hourly, Monday through Friday.
