Duties and Responsibilities
- Answer telephone calls and receive complaints and requests for services.
- Record location and type of maintenance request into a log book or a computer.
- Distribute work orders among various crews.
- Give maintenance crews additional information and instruction by telephone or radio and post completed work orders into a log book or a computer.
- Use conventional written records or computer terminal, keyboard and printer to record maintenance data, office records and stock inventories.
- Track responses to requests and produce periodic reports and correspondence.
- Type, file, coordinate and maintain various filing systems utilizing the computer and/or written records.
- Answer inquiries received from other departments.
- Perform related duties as required.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Typing speed of 30-35 wpm.
- Must have basic general clerical and secretarial skills.
- Ability to deal effectively with other employees and the public.
- Required to work any emergency directed by the Commission or its designee.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to open and close work orders daily.
- Knowledge of office record-keeping and equipment.
- Successful completion of the BWSC’s Apprentice Program unless otherwise agreed.
- May be required to complete Waste Water Collection Course and obtain certification.
- May be required to complete Water Distribution Course.
