Job Duties
- Provide a positive customer experience by greeting and assisting customers on the yard.
- Respond to customer inquiries and upsell products when possible.
- Review the loading ticket and load purchased merchandise into the customers' vehicle manually or with approved machinery (pallet jack, forklift, etc.) quickly and efficiently.
- Unload, examine, and prep all incoming yard freight. Manually or with machinery (forklift or pallet jack), move new inventory into the designated locations on the yard.
- Notify the lead or store management of any damaged or missing product.
- Follow company safety guidelines and basic safety practices at all times.
- Complete required audits and safety checks.
- Install trailer hitches, and tool boxes, inflate and mount tires, lubricate parts, paint merchandise, etc. for pre-paid customers.
- Read and decipher blueprints and assembly instructions. Use hand tools or machines to complete assembly.
- Assemble components by examining connections for correct fits, fastening parts, and removing small quantities of metal with hand files and scrappers to produce correct fits between parts.
- Maintain excellent housekeeping practices in order to promote a safe and clean working environment out on the yard and in the shop.
- Complete any other duties assigned by management.
Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Previous experience or schooling in assembly or related field is strongly preferred.
- Previous forklift experience or ability to obtain your forklift Certification within 90 days of hire.
- Able to work independently and within a team.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and a focus on quality control.
- Physical stamina, strength, dexterity and hand-eye coordination, including the ability to grasp, manipulate, and assemble parts and components that are often very small.
- Possess a sense of urgency required to work in a deadline-driven environment.
Physical Expectations
- During the job, employees are regularly required to stand, sit, and/or walk for extended periods.
- Use their hands to handle or control objects.
- Perform tasks that involve reaching, climbing, kneeling, or crouching.
- Frequent lifting or moving up to 25 pounds, with occasional requirements to handle more with assistance or equipment.
- Push and pull using various equipment.
- Specific vision abilities, including close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, are necessary.
- Verbal communication and the ability to hear are also required for safety and coordination.
