About the role
The YMCA of Greater Oklahoma City is seeking dedicated individuals to join the Y Clubhouse team at three locations within Oklahoma City Housing Authority communities. The Y Clubhouse offers after-school and summer programming for school-aged kids, providing meals, homework assistance, games, crafts, and other activities.
Responsibilities
- Buils and maintains a positive environment for all students.
- Supervises and ensures the safety of children.
- Maintains attendance records.
- Implements and executes lesson plans for scheduled program times, focusing on safe program opportunities and accommodating age and ability differences.
- Facilitates positive behavior management techniques and trauma-informed approaches.
- Aids in providing a positive learning experience for all students.
- Maintains all program equipment in good condition.
- Reports all program changes and equipment needs to leadership staff.
- Models and facilitates relationship-building skills in all interactions and maintains positive relationships with students, parents, school staff, and other YMCA staff.
- Assists with cleaning and sanitizing of classrooms and equipment.
- Ability to perform both indoor and outdoor activities.
- Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness.
Requirements
- Must be at least 16 years old or older.
- Interest in working with children and youth, demonstrating emotional maturity, moral character, judgment, integrity, and leadership capability.
- Completion of safety certifications and required trainings upon hire in accordance with required standards.
Physical requirements
- Ability to walk, stand, sit (including on the floor) for long periods of time.
- Must be able to lift and/or assist children up to 50 pounds in weight.
- Must be able to lift and carry supplies weighing up to 20 pounds.
- Ability to stand or sit while maintaining alertness for several hours at a time.
- Requires bending, pulling, crouching, leaning, kneeling, walking, pushing, climbing, and jumping.
- Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing in a way that is easily understood by children, staff, and parents.
- Visual and auditory ability to supervise and respond to critical situations with children.
- Must be able to move freely and quickly through the facility and alternate program locations including indoor and outdoor space.
Salary
$12.00 per hour
