U.S. Citizenship required for this position. This is a full-time, 3rd shift role located at Newport News Shipbuilding. No relocation assistance or telework opportunities are available.

About the Role

Plans, develops, and coordinates in-house product training programs for field support personnel and customers. Obtains information needed to prepare in-house training programs; prepares training materials; develops course content; determines methodology; and coordinates the development of training aids. Conducts training sessions and develops criteria for evaluating effectiveness of training activities. May utilize trainers with technical expertise. Continuously revises lesson plans to meet new training requirements and to keep technical information up to date.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 3 years of exempt experience; or
  • Master's degree and 1 year of exempt experience

One of the following may be used as equivalent to a bachelor's degree to meet minimum qualifications:

  • NNS Apprentice School graduate
  • High school and 5 years combined manufacturing, shipbuilding, trades, military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience
  • Graduation from Navy Nuclear Power School

The following may be used as equivalent to the number of exempt years of experience required, in addition to the education requirement above:

  • 3 years of relevant manufacturing, shipbuilding, trade and/or military experience

Nice to Have

  • Ample knowledge of all Ship Fitting duties and capabilities
  • Basic knowledge and familiarity with Microsoft Office
  • Experience with shipyard operations
  • Experience with work packages and drawing interpretations, Structure Layoff
  • Ability to efficiently measure materials with basic shipfitting tools
  • Knowledge of confined space procedures
  • Familiarity with Shipfitter tools and terminology
  • Knowledge of all weld symbols

Pay

The anticipated salary range for this role is $66,000.00 to $83,000.00. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors.
