X Ray Technologist Limited Scope - Tuberculosis (TB) Elimination Program

About the role

The Tuberculosis (TB) Elimination Program at the Metro Public Health Department (MPHD) works with community agencies, providers, and hospitals to identify persons who have active TB disease. Diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up services are provided to all persons in Davidson County diagnosed with active TB disease. Contact investigations are conducted in partnership with patients to identify, evaluate, and treat individuals exposed to active TB. Directly observed therapy is provided to all persons with TB disease, children, and some high-risk contacts. TB Infection (TBI) treatment is available for all persons diagnosed with TBI who accept treatment.

Responsibilities

• Position patients in front of the X-ray machine, adjust immobilization devices, and provide appropriate radiation protection.
• Adjust switches regulating length and intensity of exposure and make minor adjustments to equipment.
• Administer routine chest X-ray exams as ordered by the treating clinician.
• Maintain quality assurance by performing appropriate validity tests and keeping quality assurance records.
• Perform ancillary testing and tasks as ordered by treating clinicians.
• Maintain records of tests performed, including radiologic report posting and charting.
• Assist with clinic and directly observed therapy (DOT) outreach duties.
• Assist with community TB screenings, research studies, and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited program for X-ray technologists.
• Limited or full Medical Radiologic Technologist Certificate (LMRT).
• Tennessee Division of Health-Related Boards issued certificate.
• Valid driver’s license, use of personal vehicle, and maintenance of valid personal vehicle insurance as required by Tennessee Law.
