Operates radiographic equipment to produce diagnostic radiographic images according to physician protocols and performs epidural procedures. Assumes responsibilities of designated area(s) and assists other departments when available.

Responsibilities

  • Greets and escorts patient to the appropriate room.
  • Obtains the patient's history to ensure proper scheduling.
  • Asks female patients of childbearing age the date of their last menstrual period and ensures that there is no possibility of pregnancy.
  • Prepares the patient for procedures by explaining the exam and answers questions as best as possible.
  • Maintains patient comfort and safety while removing obscuring objects from the area of interest.
  • Provides radiation protection (shielding/collimation) for the patient, self, and others in accordance with prescribed safety standards of ALARA (including wearing a film badge).
  • Selects proper technical factors according to the size of the individual patient and produces/develops quality radiographs while using appropriate lead markers.
  • Critiques radiographs (density/detail/contrast/positioning/markers/anatomy visible), makes technical adjustments, and performs repeats as necessary.
  • Assists during fluoroscopic procedures (e.g., epidural steroid injections, hip aspirations) alongside the pain management team.
  • Reports equipment problems to department supervisor, office manager, and vendor.
  • Participates in training of new employees.
  • Maintains safe radiologic practice per standards adapted and implemented by x-ray quality assurance policies.
  • Exemplifies the desired culture and philosophies of the organization.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • Active, valid registration and continued certification through the ARRT.
  • Knowledge of x-ray procedures and epidural procedures.
  • Ability to operate all required equipment and machinery, including processors and computer systems.

Schedule

Monday - Friday: 7:00am - 5:00pm (total hours per week as needed).

Pay

$27.50/hr - $41.00/hr
