Operates radiographic equipment to produce diagnostic radiographic images according to physician protocols and performs epidural procedures. Assumes responsibilities of designated area(s) and assists other departments when available.
Responsibilities
- Greets and escorts patient to the appropriate room.
- Obtains the patient's history to ensure proper scheduling.
- Asks female patients of childbearing age the date of their last menstrual period and ensures that there is no possibility of pregnancy.
- Prepares the patient for procedures by explaining the exam and answers questions as best as possible.
- Maintains patient comfort and safety while removing obscuring objects from the area of interest.
- Provides radiation protection (shielding/collimation) for the patient, self, and others in accordance with prescribed safety standards of ALARA (including wearing a film badge).
- Selects proper technical factors according to the size of the individual patient and produces/develops quality radiographs while using appropriate lead markers.
- Critiques radiographs (density/detail/contrast/positioning/markers/anatomy visible), makes technical adjustments, and performs repeats as necessary.
- Assists during fluoroscopic procedures (e.g., epidural steroid injections, hip aspirations) alongside the pain management team.
- Reports equipment problems to department supervisor, office manager, and vendor.
- Participates in training of new employees.
- Maintains safe radiologic practice per standards adapted and implemented by x-ray quality assurance policies.
- Exemplifies the desired culture and philosophies of the organization.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
- Active, valid registration and continued certification through the ARRT.
- Knowledge of x-ray procedures and epidural procedures.
- Ability to operate all required equipment and machinery, including processors and computer systems.
Schedule
Monday - Friday: 7:00am - 5:00pm (total hours per week as needed).
Pay
$27.50/hr - $41.00/hr
