About the Role
This position is responsible for operating X-Ray equipment to assist radiologists and physicians with diagnosing and treating disease or injury. You will participate in delivering orthopedic care by operating radiologic equipment to produce quality diagnostic X-ray images and ensure smooth workflow and patient flow within the clinic.
Responsibilities
- Perform radiographic procedures as prescribed by a physician.
- Protect patients, self, and staff from radiation hazards.
- Operate radiographic equipment, including setting up and adjusting controls, positioning patients, and capturing images following established procedures for patient care and safety.
- Select proper ionizing factors for radiological diagnosis.
- Check X-ray images for clarity and retake when necessary.
- Upload, manage, and burn images to discs as needed by patients or physicians.
- Maintain patient records, daily logs, and monthly reports.
- Perform quality and quantity control checks to ensure X-ray units meet legal, regulatory, and departmental standards.
- Clean, maintain, and make minor adjustments to radiographic equipment; determine when repairs are needed.
- Maintain and order radiographic supplies as necessary.
- Provide excellent customer service through prompt responses and courteous communication.
- Assist physicians in delivering orthopedic patient care to ensure an excellent patient experience.
- Complete X-ray requests for proper billing.
- Actively participate in quality-assurance monitoring and recording efforts.
- Assist in maintaining a neat and sanitary workplace.
- Operate equipment safely and only use equipment you are trained to use.
- Anticipate ways to improve patient care and experience.
- Assist in evaluating, developing, and improving systems and protocols.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Current state X-Ray Technology certificate or license required.
- RT(R) certification required.
- 1-2 years of prior orthopedic radiology experience preferred.
- Critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.
- Excellent patient care and computer skills, including knowledge of EHR systems.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Knowledge of pharmacology, anatomy, physiology, surgical procedures, and treatment modalities.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and maintain quality control standards.
- Knowledge of HIPAA and OSHA requirements.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action when needed.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Knowledge of X-ray procedures, protocols, and radiology equipment, including safety hazards.
Physical and Mental Requirements
- For extended periods, must be able to sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, and reach.
- May be required to move and lift patients (with assistance as necessary) to help them turn, stand, or walk.
- Must work well under pressure.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally with patients and coworkers.
- Ability to move about a clinic setting.
