About the role

The X Ray Limited Scope & Medical Support Specialist performs routine x-ray, medical, and testing procedures under direct supervision of the treating clinician, and supports other facility areas as needed, including registration and referral management. This role requires efficient and accurate delivery of one-on-one patient care in a fast-paced environment while ensuring every patient receives quality clinical care and an excellent experience.

Responsibilities

X-ray Technician Duties

  • Prepare patients for radiologic procedures.
  • Escort patients to dressing and x-ray rooms, provide instructions, and assist in positioning body parts for radiography.
  • Explain procedures and observe patients to ensure care, safety, and comfort during exams.
  • Operate radiologic equipment to produce diagnostic images.
  • Position equipment and adjust controls for exposure time and distance per examination specifications.
  • Take x-rays following established radiologic requirements and regulations to ensure patient care and safety.
  • Use radiation safety measures and protection devices for patients and team members.
  • Report equipment malfunctions to the Center Operations Director.
  • Ensure all radiology workflows are followed and reports correctly cross to the EMR.
  • Complete required documentation related to patient x-ray visits.
  • Maintain x-ray equipment, including calibration, QA/QC procedures, and record keeping.

Medical Support Specialist Duties

  • Perform Department of Transportation (DOT) and Non-DOT drug and alcohol testing.
  • Prepare patients for physical examinations, including taking vital signs and performing ancillary testing (vaccines, injections, phlebotomy, PFTs, audiogram testing, respirator fit testing).
  • Perform rapid screening tests (influenza, strep, mono, glucose, etc.).
  • Assist providers during examinations and treatments.
  • Triage emergent patients and perform routine medical procedures as ordered by the clinician.
  • Prepare and assist with procedure set-up and injury care.
  • Apply bandages, dressings, and splints as ordered by the clinician.
  • Dispense medications and durable medical equipment (DME) per clinician orders and state regulations.
  • Complete quality assurance activities on equipment, medical devices, and testing processes.
  • Maintain supplies, clean rooms and equipment, and stock exam rooms.
  • Maintain and operate all medical devices, including calibration and record keeping.
  • Notify supervisor of equipment malfunctions, supply needs, or facility issues.
  • Assist with patient flow and volume in partnership with center leadership.
  • Keep patients informed of expected wait times.
  • Perform clerical tasks in front and back offices, including patient check-in/out, authorization, and record keeping.
  • Greet patients, answer multi-line phones, and distribute employer results/paperwork.
  • Follow HIPAA guidelines and safety rules.
  • Attend center staff meetings or huddles.
  • Maintain a neat, clean, and orderly facility appearance.
  • Complete applicable training, including monthly clinical competency training.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED equivalent.
  • Completion of a state-approved Limited Scope Technician certificate program and license (if applicable).
  • CPR/First Aid Certification.
  • At least six months of medical assistant experience with knowledge of medical procedures and terminology.
  • At least six months of demonstrated experience in X-Ray and familiarity with routine medical procedures.
  • Working knowledge of occupational medicine requirements (state-specific) preferred.
  • Prior medical office, healthcare, and/or customer service experience.
