Responsibilities
- Prepares and organizes specific equipment and sterile tray for each procedure.
- Aids procedure room team with the positioning and preparation of patient monitoring.
- Calibrates and tests transducers for accurate pressure readings.
- Aids physicians throughout diagnostic, and/or all interventional procedures.
- Loads and operates power injector and associated sterile support equipment.
- Maneuvers the table controls for physicians, as requested.
- Radiology Technologist (RT) only maneuvers fluoroscopy as requested.
- Calibrates hemodynamic monitoring equipment and obtains, calculates, and analyzes all hemodynamic data assembled during the procedure.
- Utilizes and maintains the required standards for the operation of digital cine technologies including protocols for storage and retrieval of patient’s images and hemodynamic records.
- Supports vascular access, sheath removal and hemostatic closure devices while maintaining hemostasis at the access site.
- Adheres to practice requirements related to Clinical Cardiovascular Information Systems (CVIS).
- Supports management of inventory control, maintenance of PAR levels and preparation of required equipment for each procedure.
- Operates equipment safely: prepares and cares for equipment, returns supplies as necessary.
- Applies radial access banding while maintaining hemostasis at the access site.
- Recognizes and interprets all cardiac arrhythmias.
- Participates in the catheterization lab on call responsibilities as per the organizational policy and procedure.
- Participates in quality and performance improvement initiatives (i.e. ACC-NCDR, ACC Accreditation, regulatory requirements).
- Promotes and supports all efforts enhancing all aspects of the patient experience (i.e. family, proxy, caregiver).
- Adheres to radiation safety standards per the organization's policy and procedure.
- Precepts new cardiovascular technologists and ancillary team members, as indicated.
- Helps to drive efficiency metrics by reporting and motivating team performance.
- Aids with special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited cardiovascular technologist program or radiologic technologist program or graduate of an applied science program.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills that may include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platform.
- Education, Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Preferred: Associates or Bachelors Degree in health science field, prior experience in a cardiac catheterization laboratory, invasive procedure area or special procedures radiology, Hemodynamic monitoring and sterile operative techniques.
