X-Ray Operator
About the role
Provides quality patient care when performing basic diagnostic imaging to demonstrate anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention while adhering to radiation safety principles.
Responsibilities
- Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complimentary to quality care.
- Performs basic radiological examinations, including all quality controls/clerical duties.
- Delivers appropriate care while recognizing patient conditions and ensuring successful completion of procedures.
- Positions patient, equipment, associated devices and manipulates technical factors to achieve high quality images for interpretation.
- Affords assessments of diagnostic images for technical quality, proper annotation, and patient identification, ensuring that all relative anatomy is demonstrated.
- Applies principles of radiation safety to minimize exposure to patients, self and others.
- Safeguards equipment in proper working order and reports any malfunctions to the Practice Manager or leader on duty.
- Applies appropriate standard precautions and personal protective equipment to prevent cross-contamination.
- Conducts basic machine maintenance as necessary.
- Maintains safety of all customers.
- Maintains reasonable regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
- Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Completed an accredited Basic X-ray Machine Operator educational program.
- Current Florida State License - Basic X-ray Machine Operator (BMO).
- Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
Qualifications
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, climbing stairs, standing, walking, and stooping.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must have good interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively with patients, co-workers, and other members of the health care team.
Skills
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
- Knowledge of radiation safety principles.
- Ability to operate and maintain X-ray equipment.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
