About the role

The Writing Center tutors serve a wide range of student-athletes on an individual basis to provide assistance in all stages of the writing process and for any assignment, from FYC essays to graduate school statements of purpose.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual & small group tutoring to student-athletes in assigned subjects within the scope of UGA, SEC, and NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Aid students in improving academic achievement in weekly meetings that clarify concepts, enhance study skills, and review class materials within the scope of UGA, SEC, and NCAA rules and regulations.
  • File reports on sessions & follow all departmental policies.
  • Attend mandatory trainings.
  • Communicate with student’s other support staff team members.

Requirements

  • Requires technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, a 2-year degree, or professional certificate. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.

Skills

  • Read, analyze and interpret technical procedures or governmental regulations.
  • Write reports, effectively present information and respond to questions from individuals, customers and the general public.
  • Solve practical problems and deal with random issues.
  • Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
