About the role
The Writing Center tutors serve a wide range of student-athletes on an individual basis to provide assistance in all stages of the writing process and for any assignment, from FYC essays to graduate school statements of purpose.
Responsibilities
- Provide individual & small group tutoring to student-athletes in assigned subjects within the scope of UGA, SEC, and NCAA rules and regulations.
- Aid students in improving academic achievement in weekly meetings that clarify concepts, enhance study skills, and review class materials within the scope of UGA, SEC, and NCAA rules and regulations.
- File reports on sessions & follow all departmental policies.
- Attend mandatory trainings.
- Communicate with student’s other support staff team members.
Requirements
- Requires technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, a 2-year degree, or professional certificate. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.

Skills
- Read, analyze and interpret technical procedures or governmental regulations.
- Write reports, effectively present information and respond to questions from individuals, customers and the general public.
- Solve practical problems and deal with random issues.
- Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
