Writer, Jeopardy!
Key Responsibilities
- Write an average of 8 categories per week
- Show source material (no Wikipedia, no AI)
- Contribute to writers’ meetings with constructive feedback
- Work hand-in-glove with the research staff
- Re-write clues based on feedback from researchers
- Write test material when needed
- Assist on tape days with last-minute replacement clues
- Provide rapid-response research on tape days
Required Qualifications
- 4-year college degree
- Exceptional communication, grammar and writing skills
- Ability to collaborate with all areas of production
Preferred Qualifications
- WGA membership
- Familiarity with FileMaker Pro
Application Submission Requirements
- Complete the Jeopardy! Anytime Test
- Submit writing sample as follows:
- Write 6 categories for the Jeopardy! round and 6 categories for Double Jeopardy!
- Each set of 12 categories should have 5 clues each.
- Develop one category from each of the following 12 topics:
- History
- Geography
- Literature
- Science
- Art/Music/Opera/Ballet
- Current Trends (lifestyles, but not necessarily pop culture)
- Food or Business
- Potpourri
- Starts With (you choose letter or word)
- Wordplay
- TBD
- Famous People (pop culture mainly but not necessarily all)
- Pop culture
- Note: Every clue must be accompanied by at least one source for every fact.
- Print, review and sign the writing sample release doc
- Attach the signed document as a file in your email submission
- Provide a cover letter & resume in your email submission
Pay
The anticipated base salary for this position is $138,000 to $172,000. This role may also qualify for annual incentive and/or comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
