Client Location: Grand Rapids, MI – Remote role (EST hours, part-time 20–25 hrs/week) through 12/2026, with strong potential for long-term extension.

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and versatile Writer / Communications Specialist with a strong background in marketing, digital content, and corporate communications. This part-time role will support the development of clear, compelling, and brand-aligned messaging across a range of internal and external channels. The ideal candidate is a strategic storyteller who can translate complex ideas into engaging, audience-friendly content while maintaining consistency across platforms, markets, and languages.

Project Scope

  • Design services through December 2026 by project
  • Training / Education in-person presentations design services (5 education presentations, working from existing materials)
  • 4 localized versions per presentation (US English, US Spanish, Canadian English, Canadian French)
  • Localization & WCAG compliance design services
  • 10–20 Legal documentation updates
  • 2–3 Sales promotional campaigns production assets
  • 3–6 web banners
  • 2027 Performance Year campaign production assets (1–2 landing pages, 2–4 web banners)

Responsibilities

  • Content Development: Develop clear, engaging copy for digital, print, and presentation formats. Write and edit content for web, email, campaigns, internal communications, and training materials. Translate technical, product, or business content into compelling narratives. Work collaboratively with internal/external creative project managers, project leads, and production SMEs. Help interpret briefs for relevance and accuracy.
  • Messaging and Brand Voice: Ensure consistency in tone, voice, and messaging across all channels. Align content to brand standards and audience needs. Support messaging frameworks for campaigns and initiatives. Ensure the ANA Content Styleguide is accurately applied to internal copy assignments.
  • Content Adaptation / Localization: Adapt and refine content for multiple markets and languages. Partner with localization teams to ensure intent and tone are preserved. Optimize content for accessibility and readability standards (WCAG).
  • File Management and Quality Control: Manage digital files, ensuring proper organization, version control, and adherence to project timelines. Conduct quality control checks on both digital and physical assets. Utilize production management tools (Workfront, Monday.com, etc.) to route proofs and final files for publishing.
  • Time Management: Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining high-quality output. Balance work across digital and print projects, adjusting priorities as needed. Independently resolve problems and deliver assets on time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, English, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of professional writing or communications experience
  • Portfolio showcasing a range of writing styles (marketing, digital, editorial, etc.)

Skills & Experience

  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Strong understanding of digital content best practices (web, email, SEO basics)
  • Experience developing content for multiple channels and audiences
  • Familiarity with brand voice development and messaging strategy
  • Knowledge of accessibility / WCAG content standards (preferred)
  • Strong attention to detail and quality control
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work within ambiguity and bring clarity through messaging
  • Self-motivated, highly organized, and deadline-driven
  • Experience working within content workflows and project management tools
