Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse

About the role

The Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nurse (WOCN) at Sentara RMH Medical Center is a specialized healthcare professional responsible for providing expert care to patients with complex wounds, ostomies, and continence issues.

Responsibilities

• Assess and manage wound care needs, including debridement, dressing changes, and patient education
• Provide education and support to patients and families regarding ostomy management, continence issues, and wound care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement comprehensive care plans
• Document patient progress and outcomes in accordance with regulatory and accreditation standards
• Participate in ongoing education and training related to wound care, ostomy, and continence care

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (RN)
• Certification as a Certified Wound Care Nurse (CWCN) from the Wound, Ostomy Continence Nursing Certification Board (WOCNCB)
• 3 years of acute care nursing experience
• Experience with wound care (preferred)
• Experience with patient education (preferred)

Qualifications

• Current Virginia RN license
• Current BLS certification

Pay

Salary range: $50,000 - $65,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
