About the Role
Northern Nevada Health System is a regional multi-facility system offering quality care to residents of the greater Truckee Meadows. Our locations span the region and rural communities, including Northern Nevada Medical Center (a 124-bed acute care hospital in Sparks) and Sierra Medical Center (currently under construction and scheduled to open in 2022). We also provide primary care, specialty care, and outpatient surgical services through Northern Nevada Medical Group and Quail Surgical and Pain Management Center.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate treatment to provide comprehensive wound assessments and plan of care, including goals, implementation, evaluation, and outcomes for patients across the organization.
- Provide patient, family, and staff education on wound management, pressure ulcer prevention, support surfaces, dressing selections, and other therapies.
- Serve as a resource for physicians, wound teams, and clinical staff.
- Perform general nursing duties in all departments with adequate supervision.
- Participate in the organization’s performance improvement plan.
- Perform wound assessments, reassessments, and management for all patient populations, including neonate, pediatric, geriatric, and general populations.
- Apply knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and disorders of the gastrointestinal, genitourinary, and dermal systems.
- Utilize current wound management theory to care for patients with acute and chronic wounds.
- Develop skin care programs to prevent patient skin breakdown.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
- Current state Registered Nurse Licensure.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in medical/surgical or rehabilitation nursing.
- Certified Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nurse (CWOCN) or Certified Wound Care Nurse (CWCN) preferred.
- Current BLS certification.
