About the Course

SOC BEHAV 490C: Pathways to Career Success is a 3-credit course designed to help students critically examine the concepts of happiness, success, and thriving in careers. Through a strengths-based approach, students will develop self-awareness of their unique talents and skills and create a career plan aligned with their aspirations and core values.

Course Activities

• Refine application materials (resumes, cover letters, etc.)
• Develop an individual action plan for career success
• Practice salary negotiation strategies
• Engage in professional networking
• Build interviewing skills through exercises and practice
• Participate in active classroom discussions and critical reflection

Outcomes

By the end of the course, students will be prepared to apply insights gained to their professional journeys after graduation, ensuring they thrive in their chosen careers.
