Lakeview Baptist is a long-standing Southern Baptist church in the Oxford community, established in 1935. Its purpose is to glorify God. Its mission is to love Him, love others, present the gospel of Jesus Christ, and equip those who desire to follow Him. Job Overview The Worship Leader is responsible for the overall music ministry of the church. This person works closely in cooperation with the Pastor, choir, musicians and technical personnel to incorporate the musical aspect of worship. The primary focus is to praise God and inspire those in attendance. A ‘blended’ variety of musical styles shall be incorporated so as to appeal to all age groups. Reports To The Worship Leader is a salaried, part time position, working under the supervision and direction of the Pastor. Responsibilities And Duties Plan and lead the music for all corporate worship services (primarily Sundays and Wednesdays)Organize and train the choir to achieve its highest potentialEvaluate opportunities to create additional choirs or ensemblesEncourage, recruit and equip lay volunteers to lead and/or assist as neededConduct rehearsals so that the choir and musicians are properly prepared for worshipCoordinate activities with other personnel (audio, video, church secretary) to allow them adequate time for preparationPresent appropriately themed musical programs for events such as Easter, Christmas, revivals, etc.Coordinate and schedule soloists and groups to sing during worshipOversee the organization and upkeep of all music materials and suppliesCoordinate any needed repairs or maintenance for the church’s musical instrumentsPrepare and submit an annual budgetMake fill-in arrangements when unable to be present Qualifications Adequate musical training and/or experience to assure competency in coordinating the total music ministries of the churchStrong leadership and organizational skillsExhibit confidence and a positive image when addressing groups of peoplePossess effective communication skills, both oral and writtenBe neat in appearanceAbove all, demonstrate a strong faith and commitment to Jesus Christ, affirming the tenets of Baptist beliefs.
