World Language Teacher (Certified)
Position Summary
The Main Street Academy (TMSA) is seeking a passionate and fully certified World Language Teacher to serve students in grades K–8. The teacher will plan and deliver engaging, standards-based instruction that promotes language proficiency and cultural competence.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited university (Conferred)
- Valid Georgia K–12 World Language teaching certification
- Strong knowledge of second-language acquisition theory and instructional best practices
- Demonstrated knowledge of Spanish-speaking cultures
- Ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learners
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work flexible hours to support student and school needs
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Adhere to all Teacher Keys Effectiveness System (TKES) standards
- Plan and implement standards-based world language instruction aligned to Georgia Standards of Excellence
- Deliver engaging lessons that build listening, speaking, reading, and writing proficiency
- Provide content-related and appropriate instruction based on TMSA’s curriculum programs
- Integrate appropriate technology into classroom instruction
- Integrate Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts/Agriculture, and Math (STEAM) based instruction with instructional objectives and standards
- Nurture an academically rich and positive classroom environment that promotes active scholar learning and development in the subject area
- Exhibit knowledge of performance-based instructions and assessment
- Communicate responsibly with all students, parents, colleagues, and school leadership
- Facilitate home-school communication by such means as holding conferences, telephone calls, and sending email/written communications
- Work with parents/guardians in all aspects of the student's educational program
- Adequately prepare for responsibilities to be assumed when absent
- Account for student attendance and punctuality
- Follow all county, state, and federal policies, and procedures
- Avoid behaviors that detract from staff morale
- Support TMSA goals, initiatives, programs, and processes
Skills and Knowledge
- Experience in collaborating with teacher teams and adapting work to the needs of colleagues and students
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to utilize technology for communication and instruction
- Organizational skills and initiative for working with minimal direct supervision
- Working knowledge of current research and resources in content areas
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to Family Education Rights and Privacy (FERPA) requirements
