Workshop Technician
About the role
We are seeking a Workshop Technician with a background in mechanical or electrical fields, a minimum of 3-5 years of industry experience, and a high school diploma or equivalent. Preferred qualifications include underground or surface mining equipment experience, fork lift and overhead crane experience, and digital literacy.
Responsibilities
- Inspect equipment for accurate performance and determine faults and malfunctions
- Rebuild components and systems according to factory specifications
- Test repaired equipment to ensure accurate operational performance
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives
- Stay in sync with all SMR safety policies and applicable regulations
- Develop and maintain relationships with the workshop team and internal/external customers
- Follow scopes of work within time constraints to meet established delivery targets
- Adjust equipment and repair/replace defective parts/components or systems according to scope
- Identify additional repairs, compile parts and labor estimates, and communicate to supervisor
- Complete accurate time records, technical reports, failure reports, and parts lists
- Maintain hand tools and equipment to ensure safe operation
- Maintain orderly workshop and ensure housekeeping requirements are met
- Stay current with industry, customer, product developments and technical standard methodologies
- Conform to ISO Standards
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have a valid driver's license in good standing, strong mechanical proficiency and work ethic, and excellent troubleshooting ability with diagnostic and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems is preferred.
Qualifications
A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with a technical certification or diploma in mechanical or electrical fields. Previous work experience demonstrating strong communication and active listening skills is also essential.
