Responsibilities

• Conduct vocational screenings, interviews, and assessments.
• Develop individualized vocational plans and teach transferable job skills, including preparing clients to seek employment after discharge.
• Coordinate and monitor client participation in the Northwest Ohio Behavioral Healthcare Vocational Services “Work Program.”
• Document client progress and write routine progress notes.
• Support therapeutic activities and maintain attendance records.
• Escort clients to on‑ and off‑unit programs as needed.
• Serve on hospital committees and perform miscellaneous duties to support an integrated psychosocial rehabilitation approach.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• 30 months of experience counseling persons who are mentally ill, developmentally disabled, or otherwise disadvantaged; or
• Completion of an undergraduate core program in a human services area (e.g., rehabilitation counseling, social work, psychology, occupational therapy) and 12 months of experience counseling the above populations; or
• Completion of a graduate core program in a human services area (e.g., rehabilitation counseling, social work, psychology, occupational therapy); or
• Alternative, equivalent evidence of the Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment.

Official transcripts are required for all post‑secondary education, coursework, or degrees listed on the application. Transcripts must be submitted before a formal employment offer; failure to provide them within five (5) business days of request results in disqualification. Transcripts printed from an institution’s website are not accepted. The Department reserves the right to evaluate the academic validity of the degree‑granting institution.

Pay

Hourly rate: $27.48 (Step 1 of Pay Range 10 on the Ohio Health Care SEIU/1199 Pay Range Schedule). After six months of satisfactory performance, an increase is available, followed by yearly raises thereafter.

Schedule

Permanent, full‑time. Normal working hours: 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
