About the Role
This position is a Career Level 20P located in Libertyville, IL with a hybrid role classification. The Workplace Technologies Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting all components of the Office 365 and Windows PC environments in a diverse enterprise setting. This role serves as a subject matter expert for Office 365, legacy on-premises productivity applications, and Windows deployment automation.
Responsibilities
- Manage and monitor deployment of all client Windows Operating systems, software, patches, critical updates, and service packs on a timely basis in physical and virtual environments.
- Develop and maintain automated deployment systems which cater to self-service.
- Recommend process improvements to ensure system scalability and reliability.
- Monitor the health of distribution points as well as content being distributed throughout the enterprise.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and support of client systems management.
- Work with the Sr. Manager, Workplace Technologies to develop deployment specifications and configurations.
- Act as the tier 3 technical contact, deliver advanced technical troubleshooting and problem-solving solutions for corporate customers, including issues escalated to the highest level of management for Microsoft Teams conferencing room systems. This includes design, hardware/software evaluations, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts and escalation managers when additional support is needed.
- Work hand in hand with architects and engineers to design Workplace Technologies solutions.
- Maintain an intimate understanding of Networking Technologies (WiFi, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and VPN troubleshooting).
- Maintain technical knowledge in the industry with internal/external training to improve performance and develop specialization.
- Develop a deep understanding of the entire M365 application stack, including the various subscription plans, Active Directory & Entra ID, and Microsoft Intune/SCCM.
- Provide 3rd level support for the end-user computing platform.
- Develop scripts to evaluate the environment and deploy solutions using PowerShell.
Requirements
- B.S. in Computer Science (or equivalent experience).
- 7+ years in Information Technology.
- 7+ years supporting Workplace Technologies Services.
- Experience with Microsoft M365 and/or Microsoft server technologies (e.g., Exchange Server, SharePoint Server, and/or OneDrive) and/or Microsoft Windows operating systems, configuration, and deployment platforms (SCCM, Intune).
- 2+ years’ experience with scripting and automation technologies (PowerShell, Microsoft Graph API, Azure Automation).

- Comprehensive knowledge of M365 suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneDrive, Windows OS, Power Platform, Viva Platform).
- Active Directory & Entra ID.
- SharePoint Online, Exchange Online, Microsoft Teams.
- Microsoft Windows 10/11 Enterprise.
- Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager and Intune.
- Group policy creation and administration.
- Proficiency in managing and securing endpoints (laptops, printers, scanners, mobile devices).
- Virtual Workstation system design and administration.
- Windows PowerShell, Shell & VBScript (scripting).
- Basic knowledge of networking, server, and virtual technologies.
- Clear and effective communication with team members and stakeholders.
- Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
- Security mindset – design, implement, and maintain secure solutions.
- Willingness to learn and stay up to date on the latest technologies and trends.
- Thorough knowledge of legacy Office applications (Word, Excel, OneNote, PowerPoint, Teams, OneDrive, etc.).
