Workplace Sr. Security Engineer (PEP)

About the role

As Workplace Senior Security Engineer, you will serve as a technical architect and strategic leader for VERSANT’s physical security and facility systems. These systems span multiple regions, providing physical identity management, access control, video surveillance, and facility management, including monitoring and control of physical infrastructure in buildings and data centers. This role applies a software engineering mindset to enhance the reliability and security of headend infrastructure while reducing operational costs.

Responsibilities

• Ensure new technology solutions align with Versant Media’s Physical Security and Facility services strategy.
• Perform system enhancements, maintenance, and metrics gathering for security and facility management systems: Genetec, Continuum, ScheduAll (resource/asset scheduling), EOMS (customized order management system), EPMS (Electric Power Monitoring System), TripShot (shuttle service portal), and Asset Tracker (customized asset management).
• Improve system security posture by refining operating procedures.
• Monitor and support the Genetec unified system, including access control (readers, panels, turnstiles, and I/O devices) and video surveillance (cameras, LPR, and video analytics modules).
• Monitor and support facility systems: Continuum, ScheduAll, EOMS, EPMS, and TripShot.
• Support Global Risk and Incident response and mass communication applications.
• Maintain integrations with third-party solutions via RESTful API, IIS, and SQL querying for reporting.
• Uphold high standards and best practices, including testing, documentation, process application, and deployment.
• Conduct daily system checks to ensure optimal performance, including communication links.
• Perform initial diagnostic troubleshooting, determine root causes of network and systems issues, and escalate as needed.
• Manage and diagnose initial escalations from system failures to third parties.
• Create monthly metrics reports for systems availability and firmware status.
• Participate in systems upgrades and patching.
• Collaborate with other Versant Media engineering teams to integrate new tools and enhance existing applications.
• Interface with various Technology organization teams, including cybersecurity, networking, firewall, Wintel, database, and data warehouse.
• Provide support during major incidents or outages as required.
• Manage access control and video devices across domestic and international Versant campuses.
• Vendor management.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience with Genetec systems V5.11+ and knowledge of high-availability enterprise architectural designs.
• 3+ years of experience designing scalable and reliable enterprise solutions, including multi-tier software architectures, networking, and security.
• 3+ years of experience managing and maintaining facility management systems.
• System administration experience with Windows and Linux.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for stakeholders and engineers.
• Experience with change management methodologies.
• Experience with identity access systems.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Ability to execute within a fast-paced agile process.
• Ability to build effective cross-functional relationships to deliver enterprise-wide solutions.
• Self-starter with a results-oriented mindset.
• Experience creating network and system diagrams for established and proposed deployments.
• Familiarity with third-party systems and custom applications.
• Ability to provide system support during business and after-hours on an on-call basis.

Preferred Qualifications

• Fundamental understanding of networking (Network+ or CCNA).
• 2+ years of experience with cloud-based infrastructure and platform services (Azure, AWS).
• 3+ years of experience developing, deploying, and operating facility management systems.
• 3+ years of experience supporting Global Risk and response systems.
• Experience with network protocols such as TCP/IP, SNMP, Modbus, and BACnet.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, wiring diagrams, and device data sheets.
• Experience with automation and leveraging tools to improve efficiency.
• Current and active Genetec Enterprise certifications.
