Full-time, 40 hours per week. 1st shift: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday – Friday. On-site at Outpatient Behavioral Health with travel to Mahoning Valley Campus 3–4 times per month.

About the role

The Workplace Safety Training Specialist delivers the hospital’s aggression management program, assesses participants in class, and provides simulations in clinical work environments. The role focuses on creating a culture of safety, trauma-informed care, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers didactic, physical intervention skills, and safety equipment training to an interdisciplinary hospital audience.
  • Ensures competencies are tracked and collaborates with leaders to ensure compliance.
  • Provides feedback to staff and maintains appropriate documentation.
  • Delivers training on crisis response, de-escalation, and appropriate interventions aligned with organizational policies and standards.
  • Collaborates with clinical staff, public safety, and leadership teams to support workplace violence initiatives.
  • Evaluates and assists with creation of additional training opportunities specific to various work environments.
  • Travels between facilities or departments as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, education, psychology, or related field; or high school diploma/equivalent and 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Must complete Aggression Management Trainer course.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in providing training, teaching, or group facilitation.
  • Strong understanding of human behavior, crisis intervention, and de-escalation skills.
  • Experience in healthcare is preferred.
  • Requires moderate physical activity.

Skills

  • Experience in planning, implementing, delivering, and evaluating education.
  • Strong verbal communication and excellent presentation skills.
  • Ability to adapt training to diverse learning styles and varying professional backgrounds.
  • Strong organizational skills.

Schedule

  • Full-time, 40 hours per week.
