Working Student (m/f/d) — IIoT / RTLS Hardware & Deployment Support

Ten Degrees by Inpixon · Palo Alto, CA · 2 wk ago
EducationFull-time

What You'll Do

  • Support ongoing IIoT / RTLS projects across the deployment lifecycle, from lab preparation through to on-site commissioning support
  • Work hands-on with UWB anchors (nodes), tags and industrial sensors: configuration, functional testing and fault isolation
  • Flash firmware onto nodes and tags using our internal deployment tooling, and verify successful updates
  • Prepare, label, package and document hardware kits for shipment to customer deployment sites
  • Build and maintain an accurate inventory of hardware in stock — quantities, hardware revisions, firmware versions, serial numbers and allocation per project
  • Assist the project team during deployment phases: pre-staging, site preparation, commissioning support and acceptance testing
  • Document test results, configurations, and known issues so that findings are reusable by the wider team

What We're Looking For

Required Education, Experience, And Competencies

  • Currently enrolled at a university or university of applied sciences, ideally in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, mechatronics, industrial engineering or a comparable field
  • Genuine interest in industrial IoT, wireless technologies and real-world deployments — and the willingness to take on IIoT / RTLS projects rather than routine tasks
  • Comfortable with basic networking concepts (IP addressing, subnets, switches, DHCP) or eager to learn them quickly
  • Confident using the command line (Windows and/or Linux); scripting experience (e.g. Python) is a plus
  • Practical, careful and structured working style — hardware that leaves our lab has to be right the first time
  • Reliable and organised: inventory accuracy and clear documentation matter as much as technical skill
  • Based in or around Eschborn / Frankfurt, since the role requires regular on-site presence
  • Good communication skills in English and/or German

Desired (But Not Required)

  • Experience with basic electronics bench work, MQTT, Docker, RF or antenna basics, or previous working-student experience in a hardware or lab environment

What You'll Get

  • Real responsibility on live industrial projects from day one, not simulated exercises
  • Direct mentoring from experienced engineers
  • Working hours planned around your semester schedule, including reduced load during exam periods
  • A well-equipped hardware lab and a small, pragmatic team where your input is heard
