Job Title: Workers Compensation SpecialistJob Description The position of Workers' Compensation Specialist involves serving as the primary handler for workers' compensation claims at the plant. The role emphasizes excellent customer service, quality claims handling, and effective loss cost management. This is a plant-based role. Responsibilities Analyze and process complex or technically difficult workers' compensation claims by investigating and gathering information to determine the exposure on the claim.Handle a full caseload, with proven ability to manage cases of increased severity.Manage claims through well-developed action plans to ensure timely and cost-effective resolutions.Calculate and assign timely and appropriate reserves to claims; manage reserve adequacy throughout the life of the claim.Calculate and pay benefits due; approve and make timely claim payments and adjustments; and settle claims within designated authority level.Prepare necessary state filings within statutory limits.Coordinate vendor referrals for additional investigation and/or litigation management.Use appropriate cost containment techniques, including strategic vendor partnerships, to reduce overall cost of claims.Manage claim recoveries, including but not limited to subrogation, Second Injury Fund excess recoveries, and Social Security and Medicare offsets.Report claims to the excess carrier.Communicate claim activity and processing with the claimant and the client.Ensure claim files are properly documented, and claims coding is correct.Refer cases as appropriate to supervisor and management. Working hours are from 8 AM to 5 PM, with a 1-hour lunch break. The role offers an opportunity for advancement with a well-known company and is a long-term, open-ended contract opportunity. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Kansas City, MO. Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $28.87 - $28.87/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
