Position Overview
Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of California workers' compensation lien files from initial billing through resolution.
- Review accounts to determine appropriate collection strategy.
- Communicate with insurance adjusters, defense attorneys, applicant attorneys, hearing representatives, and other parties.
- Prepare demand letters and settlement proposals.
- Review Explanation of Benefits (EOBs), payment histories, and billing records.
- Identify underpayments, denials, and outstanding balances.
- Prepare files for conferences, hearings, and trials.
- Maintain accurate documentation of collection activity.
- Work closely with billing, providers, and management to resolve account issues.
- Meet monthly collection and productivity goals.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of California Workers' Compensation collections experience preferred.
- Experience filing and managing WCAB liens.
- Working knowledge of California workers' compensation regulations.
- Familiarity with EAMS and the WCAB process.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to prioritize a high-volume workload.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel.
- Experience with medical billing software is preferred.
