Workers Compensation Counsel
About the role
Ogletree’s Cleveland office has an opportunity for an experienced workers’ compensation defense attorney to join the firm’s expanding practice. This role will be responsible for defending claims from inception to final resolution, including administrative hearings, Violation of Specific Safety Requirement (“VSSR”) claims, and litigation including appeals. Qualified candidates must be able to serve as lead counsel on multiple cases simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Our office is collegial with a commitment to mutual respect in the workplace. This non-shareholder track position is benefits eligible.
Responsibilities
- Defend workers’ compensation claims from inception to final resolution
- Handle administrative hearings, Violation of Specific Safety Requirement (VSSR) claims, and litigation including appeals
- Serve as lead counsel on multiple cases simultaneously
- Meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
Requirements
- Juris Doctor
- Licensed to practice law in Ohio and in good standing
- Meet continuing licensure requirements for law practice
- 3+ years of workers’ compensation defense experience
