Workers' Compensation Associate Attorney

Key Responsibilities
- Manage a workers’ compensation defense caseload from initial claim through resolution
- Conduct depositions of claimants, lay witnesses, medical providers, and expert witnesses
- Draft and respond to motions, briefs, and discovery
- Review and analyze medical records and claim files to develop case strategy
- Represent clients at mediations, hearings, and other proceedings before the North Carolina Industrial Commission
- Investigate claims and perform legal analysis on new and existing cases
- Negotiate settlements and prepare client reports as required by insurers and risk managers
- Maintain ongoing communication with clients, including insurance adjusters and risk managers
Qualifications
- Licensed and in good standing with the North Carolina State Bar
- 2-8+ years of Workers’ Compensation defense experience required
- Experience taking depositions and participating in mediations preferred
- Strong legal research, writing, and verbal communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated
