Workers Comp Attorney

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Workers Comp Attorney to represent clients in matters involving workplace injuries and related claims in North Carolina. This role is ideal for a legal practitioner who can manage contested cases, develop persuasive legal strategies, and provide clear guidance throughout each stage of the process. The attorney will work in a fast-paced practice environment that values sound judgment, thorough preparation, and effective advocacy.

Responsibilities

• Represent clients in workers' compensation proceedings, hearings, and related legal matters from initial filing through resolution.
• Prepare, review, and file motions, briefs, pleadings, and other legal documents with accuracy and attention to deadlines.
• Manage discovery activities by drafting requests, evaluating responses, and gathering evidence to support case strategy.
• Conduct legal research and analyze statutes, case law, and procedural rules relevant to workers' compensation and civil litigation matters.
• Advise clients on case developments, potential outcomes, and practical legal options in a clear and thorough manner.
• Negotiate settlements when appropriate and advocate effectively during contested proceedings.
• Maintain organized case files and coordinate with internal staff, opposing counsel, medical providers, and other case participants.
• Monitor court and administrative schedules to ensure timely compliance with filing requirements and procedural obligations.

Qualifications

• Active license to practice law in good standing in NC.
• Demonstrated experience handling workers' compensation matters and related civil litigation cases.
• Strong drafting skills with the ability to prepare motions, briefs, and other legal filings independently.
• Working knowledge of discovery procedures, evidentiary development, and case preparation.
• Ability to manage multiple matters at once while meeting deadlines in a fast-moving legal environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a client-focused approach.
• Sound analytical judgment and the ability to develop practical litigation strategies.
