About the role
As a Member of Technical Staff (MTS) on the Information Technology Employee Success team, you will design, develop, and architect next-generation Workday integrations that power payroll, HR, and financial operations for a global workforce of 80,000+ employees.
Responsibilities
- Next-Gen Engineering: Design and build high-scale integrations and custom apps using Workday Studio, Workday Extend, Orchestrations, Global Payroll Cloud (GPC), and Digital Document Delivery (DDOD) to support global HCM operations.
- AI-Accelerated Development: Integrate AI fundamentals into your daily workflow—utilizing tools like Claude Code, Cursor, or OpenAI Codex to write cleaner integration logic, automate unit testing, and dramatically speed up code reviews.
- 3rd-Party Payroll Ecosystems: Drive engineering efforts for global 3rd-party payroll connectors, ensuring seamless, bi-directional data flow with external vendors like ADP GlobalView, CloudPay, and regional providers.
- Lifecycle Ownership: Lead end-to-end delivery of complex projects—from scoping and development through automated QA, UAT, global cutover, and hypercare support.
- Intelligent Automation: Eliminate manual overhead by automating compliance data streams (e.g., India Form 11) and equity integrations (E*TRADE RSU records, Dividend automation).
- System Reliability: Own production stability—monitor integration health, perform root-cause analysis, and resolve high-priority incidents with modern observability practices.
- Continuous Evolution: Execute payroll release readiness using automated tools like Kainos for regression testing across Workday’s continuous release cycles.
Requirements
- Experience: 3–5 years of professional software engineering or advanced Workday integration experience.
- Modern Workday Stack: Hands-on experience with Workday Extend, Orchestrations, GPC, and DDOD.
- 3rd-Party Payroll Mastery: Deep understanding of integrating Workday with external, 3rd-party payroll systems and a solid grasp of functional payroll concepts across global regions (US, UK, India, EMEA, APAC).
- AI Aptitude: Familiarity with AI-assisted coding tools (Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot) to optimize development velocity and troubleshoot complex XML/XSLT transformations.
- Agile Mindset: Comfortable in fast-paced Agile/Scrum environments; Scrum Lead experience is a definite plus.
- Communication: Stellar cross-functional skills—equally comfortable talking architecture with engineers or strategy with global Payroll business partners.
Qualifications
- Certifications: Workday Pro Integrations, Workday Extend, or Payroll certifications are highly desirable.
- Nice to Have: Experience building full-stack custom apps natively within the Workday Extend framework.
- Familiarity with enterprise middleware like MuleSoft or Boomi.
- Knowledge of global compliance frameworks, ESPP, RSUs, and equity platforms (E*TRADE, Equity Edge).
Skills
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in SQL, Python, Java, or similar programming languages.
