Job#: 3040928 Job Description: Workday Architect Location: Work is to be performed On-Site in Irvine, California or Dalla, Texas Compensation: Compensation is negotiable as the primary focus is finding the right resource for the role. Role Overview: The Workday Solution Architect is responsible for translating functional requirements into scalable, secure, and maintainable Workday solutions. This high-visibility role operates at the intersection of functional design and technical execution, partnering with functional experts to convert business requirements into well-structured Workday configurations, including business processes, calculated fields, reporting, and security models. This position owns the design and integrity of Workday configurations and integrations, establishing standards for how business processes, reporting frameworks, and data flows are implemented within the platform. Key Responsibilities: Translate functional requirements into Workday solutions, including business process (BP) configuration, condition rules, calculated fields, and reporting.Design, build, and optimize advanced custom reports and dashboards.Configure and maintain Workday business processes across HCM, Payroll, Benefits, and Compensation domains.Design and implement Workday security models, including security groups and domain policies.Develop and maintain integrations using EIB, Core Connectors (CCW/CCB), Workday Studio, and Workday APIs (SOAP and REST).Design and implement API-based integrations, including authentication and authorization mechanisms (OAuth 2.0, SAML).Apply XSLT transformations to support inbound and outbound integrations.Validate and refine functional requirements to ensure alignment with Workday capabilities and constraints.Troubleshoot and resolve complex configuration, reporting, and integration issues.Perform impact analysis and validation for Workday bi-annual releases.Define and enforce design standards across reporting, business processes, and integrations. Required Qualifications: Experience: 7+ years of Workday experience with deep hands-on expertise translating functional requirements into Workday solutions across Core HCM, Payroll, Benefits, and Compensation. Proven experience designing end-to-end integration solutions using API-led, event-driven, or middleware-brokered patterns across two or more major enterprise platforms. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. Technical Skills: Demonstrated track record of establishing and operating an architecture governance model across multiple technology platforms or organizational teams, including review processes, decision records, and standards enforcement. Preferred Qualifications: Hands-on experience with two or more major enterprise platforms such as Epic, Workday, Salesforce, ServiceNow, MuleSoft, Snowflake, or AWS.Experience designing or governing event-driven architectures using Apache Kafka, AWS MSK, or equivalent streaming platforms.Experience with cloud-native patterns on AWS or equivalent, including containerization, serverless, infrastructure as code (IaC), and CI/CD pipeline design.Experience in a regulated enterprise environment with awareness of privacy and security rules and compliance requirements.Familiarity with AI-augmented architecture patterns, including retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines, agentic workflows, or large language model (LLM) integration.Relevant architecture certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect, TOGAF, MuleSoft Certified Integration Architect, or equivalent. Knowledge and Skills: Deep understanding of Workday data model, object relationships, and configuration dependencies.Ability to design scalable business process frameworks using condition rules and calculated fields.Advanced reporting and data modeling expertise within Workday.Strong understanding of integration patterns, including when to use EIB vs Core Connectors vs Studio vs APIs.Proficiency in XML and XSLT for complex data transformation.Strong understanding of Workday API frameworks (SOAP and REST).Knowledge of authentication and authorization protocols, including OAuth 2.0 and SAML.Experience with Workday Prism Analytics and matrix/composite reporting.Familiarity with Workday Extend and Orchestrate. Work Environment: This is a full-time, onsite role based in an office setting. Occasional travel may be required for meetings, audits, or vendor engagements.
