Responsibilities

• Conduct safety audits
• Inspect rights-of-way (ROW) and easements for trim, removal, and chemical treatment requirements
• Mark vegetation as required
• Collect and report data for Line Clearing contractors
• Notify and communicate with customers as needed
• Travel occasionally (day and overnight) based on project needs
• Safely drive a company vehicle to work locations

Requirements

• Minimum thirty (30) semester credits or forty-five (45) quarter credits toward a degree from an accredited college/university OR 2-3 years of utility vegetation management (UVM) experience without a degree
• Species and hazard tree identification skills, knowledge of invasive species, and tree growth
• Computer and communication skills
• Knowledge of industry standards
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
• Pass a pre-employment drug test and criminal background check

Preferred Qualifications

• ISA or equivalent certification (preferred but not required)
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus

Working Environment

Work alone in an outdoor field environment, including vehicle and foot patrol of utility power lines in remote, urban, and city settings. Physical demands include:

• Travel between sites, walking/hiking on varied terrain (flat, dry, wet, slippery, uneven, rough, steep, hills, slopes)
• Exposure to noise, dust, grease, all weather conditions, and hazardous traffic
• Reasonable accommodations may be available for individuals with disabilities

Physical Demands

• Ability to walk up to 10 miles per day, stand, sit, and operate a motor vehicle for prolonged periods
• Frequent stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, running, crawling, climbing, reaching, and twisting
• Repetitive hand, arm, and shoulder movements (e.g., forcefully beating down brush)
• Carry, push, or pull light to heavy weights (frequently up to 10 lbs., occasionally up to 60 lbs.)
• Operate field equipment (handheld computer, range finder, fyrake, water backpack, shovel, traffic cones)
• Verbal communication for public interactions
• Normal vision and hearing (with or without correction)
