Background

We provide comprehensive virtual mental health services designed specifically for these settings, including perinatal mental health and perimenopause/menopause care.

Role

The Women's Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner supports the collaborative care team, which includes OB/GYN providers, patients, social workers, licensed therapists, and coaches, through regular consultations on an assigned caseload of patients. The PMHNP advises the OB/GYN provider on appropriate medications and other treatment strategies, or sees patients directly for short-term medication management in the context of pregnancy and postpartum, and/or peri/menopause.

Requirements

  • Independently licensed psychiatric nurse practitioner in CT*
  • Able to practice independently without supervision in the state(s) of licensure
  • Hold an active DEA license in state(s) of licensure
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in a team setting

  • Ability to quickly synthesize medical and psychiatric data and formulate effective and evidence-based clinical recommendations
  • Passionate, driven, and inspired by a mission to improve perinatal mental healthcare delivery, particularly in vulnerable patient populations
  • Experience or interest in perinatal or perimenopause mental health and collaborative care

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct psychiatric evaluations and medication management visits for FamilyWell program participants via telehealth for the short-term management of mental health conditions in the perinatal period and/or experiencing peri/menopause
  • Provide treatment recommendations for patients who may need more intensive or more specialized mental health care
  • Perform pre-conception medication consultation and psycho-education for individuals trying to conceive and currently treated with psychotropic medications
  • Complete asynchronous caseload consultations through a review of clinical information prepared by the patient’s care team, as well as review of available medical records
  • Provide recommendations for next steps in treatment
  • Document for case consultations and direct patient visits within 24 hours of visit
  • Work with care managers to oversee the status and population health of their assigned patient caseload
  • Use FamilyWell’s registry to track all assigned patients and prioritize patients for case review and treatment adjustment
  • Provide educational support on diagnosing and managing behavioral health conditions
  • Be available to provide occasional ad hoc telephone, email, or telehealth consultations to OB providers for complex patients or challenging patient situations within normal working hours
  • Maintain professional cell phone and email accounts for contact during usual business hours
  • Check professional accounts daily and respond to email questions/consultations within two business days, sooner if urgent

Compensation

  • 60-minute Psychiatric Evaluation: $125
  • 25-minute Psychiatric Follow-up: $50
