Women's Health Nurse Practitioner

About the role

The Nurse Practitioner will provide services to support daily clinical operations for the beneficiaries at the 628th Medical Group (MDG) Joint Base (JB) Charleston. The Nurse Practitioner will offer a variety of healthcare services to patients during extended gaps caused by personnel separation and deployments.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and manage acute episodic and chronic illnesses, minor traumas and behavioral/psychological problems related to women's health.
• Teach, counsel, and advise patients, families and communities about current health status, illness(es), and health promotion and disease prevention activities appropriate for age and condition.
• Perform well woman exams, comprehensive family planning counseling, infertility evaluations and sexually transmitted infections care of patients.
• Prescribe therapies, including medications, considering pregnancy and lactation status, sociocultural background, and financial resources.
• Order screening and diagnostic procedures and interpret test results, including, but not limited to, ultrasound and mammography as well as age-appropriate primary care screens.
• Complete orientation and competency verification programs in accordance with (IAW) unit guidelines.
• Participate in the orientation and training of newly assigned personnel, as appropriate.
• Provide relevant and timely information to these groups and assist with process improvement for teaching/education to benefit the patients/families in delivering safe patient care.
• Participate in customer service initiatives and medical readiness activities designed to enhance health services.
• Participates in a safe work environment, employee safe work habits and patient safety IAW regulatory agencies, infection control policies, and process improvement initiatives.

Requirements

Experience HCW shall have a minimum of 24 months within the past 36 months of clinical practice experience. Must have knowledge of professional care theories, practices, and procedures to provide comprehensive women's health care throughout the lifespan, with an emphasis on reproductive, gynecologic, and family-centered health education; growth and development, and pathophysiology of disease processes, specific to the obstetrical and gynecological population from menarche through the remainder of the lifespan; a variety of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment, the desired effects, side effects, and complications of their use as well as the accurate administration of the pharmacologic agent, including dosage calculations as required; the administrative requirements for proper documentation of patients condition including disease progress, acknowledgement of teaching, and follow up care; and the computer in the use of basic word processing, data entry and automated medical records.

Qualifications

• Must have experience in Nexplanon and IUDs of all kinds and be very comfortable with HRT/menopause/perimenopause treatment.

Skills

Must possess organization, problem-solving and communication skills to articulate medical requirements to patients, families/care givers, medical and non-medical staff in a professional and courteous way.

Benefits

W2 pay package with paid time off. Pay: $61.23 per hour.

Schedule

Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
