Women's Health Nurse Practitioner

Employees are eligible for a lump-sum hiring bonus of $2,000, paid in two installments: $1,000 after three months of satisfactory full-time probationary employment and $1,000 after twelve months of satisfactory full-time employment. Eligibility requires meeting all requirements contained in Civil Service Regulation 6.32.

About the role

This is advanced-level nursing work providing comprehensive patient care in a specialized area. Employees perform physical examinations and assessments within licensure parameters and program protocols, including medical diagnosis and prescription of therapeutic or corrective measures in collaboration with and under the direction of a licensed physician. Key responsibilities include educating patients on general health care practices, securing patient cooperation, formulating plans and prognoses, and prescribing or recommending drugs or other treatments. Work is performed under the technical supervision of a physician.

The Civil Service Commission has waived the usual residency requirement for candidates to be residents of Philadelphia.

Requirements

  • Licensure as a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) in Women’s Health, issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing Education, must be obtained within 30 days after the last date for filing applications.
  • Ability to physically perform the duties and work in the environmental conditions required for the position.

Licenses, Registrations, and Certifications

  • Valid, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse at the time of application, appointment, and during employment.
  • Licensure as a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing Education at the time of application, appointment, and during employment.
  • Eligibility for a valid, unrestricted Prescription Authority Certification or Number from the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing and the State Board of Medicine within six months of appointment and during employment.
  • Eligibility for an unrestricted Controlled Substances Registration Certification from the U.S. Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration, and possession of such certification within six months of appointment and during employment as a CRNP.
