Position Summary

Join the team at Hart House in St. Paul and make a difference! Hart House offers 24-bed transitional housing for women in recovery. This full-time position provides supportive services, a secure environment, and various responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide supportive services and a secure, safe environment for residents
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all residents
  • Monitor medication
  • Aid in resident transportation
  • Answer incoming calls
  • Conduct random urinalysis drug/alcohol screenings
  • Make a visual check of all residents and document status
  • Assist with meals
  • Provide crisis intervention
  • Complete clerical and other tasks
  • Work well with people from diverse cultural, social, and economic backgrounds
  • Have awareness of culturally specific resources

Requirements

  • An understanding and sensitivity to the unique problems encountered by people experiencing homelessness, mental illness, and chemical dependency
  • The ability to work well with people from diverse racial, cultural, social, and economic backgrounds
  • An awareness of culturally specific resources
  • Able to lift and/or carry up to 25 pounds; able to bend, stoop, kneel and climb flights of stairs
  • Understand chemical dependency and the needs of women in recovery
  • Have a good working knowledge of AA/NA
  • Computer proficiency required; including the ability to use e-mail, navigate the internet, and complete basic data entry in a database system

Qualifications

  • Experience working with women in recovery
  • Knowledge of Mission Statements and Values
  • Ability to work flexible hours including overnight and weekends

Skills

  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
  • Proficiency in computer systems

Pay

The hourly rate of pay is $15.23 - $16.80 depending on experience and qualifications. Overnight shifts receive a .40 cents differential, and weekend shifts receive a .50 cents differential.

Schedule

This is a full-time position with flexible hours including overnight and weekend shifts.
