WLKY - Newscast Producer

Responsibilities

• Select, research, and write content for live newscasts to make the newscast an "experience" for viewers.
• Work with and guide reporters in story production.
• Cook up creative vision with team of anchors, reporters, meteorologists, photographers, editors, and production staff.
• Booth assigned newscasts, breaking news and weather events.
• Live time newscasts.
• Aid in digital production; write and share content.

Requirements

• Professional or college producing experience.
• Experience working in a newsroom.
• Writing and copy-editing skills.
• Coordinate several crews and responsibilities simultaneously.
• Experience summarizing information into easy-to-understand components.
• Creative presentation style, and ability to showcase all resources and elements.
• Exhibit the highest journalistic integrity and ethical standards.
• Willing to work weekends, nights or overnights.

Qualifications

• Proven track record of winning the big story, breaking news and weather.
• Excellent news judgment.
• Flexibility and a can-do attitude.
• Willingness to work holidays, shifts including nights, weekends and overnights, and flexible with schedule to be available during breaking news.

Skills

• Strong writing and copy-editing skills.
• Ability to work under deadlines and calm under pressure.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing news environment.
