Wireless Network Deployment Engineer
Loop is revolutionizing the future of EV charging. Backed by Fifth Wall and Agility, we’ve quickly become one of the fastest-growing networks in the U.S. deploying over 7,500 chargers since our 2019 launch and earning our place among the Top 5 EV charging companies nationwide. At Loop, we’re not just building infrastructure, we’re powering the shift to a smarter, cleaner, and more connected world of transportation. We are seeking a skilled and dependable Wireless Network Deployment Engineer to ensure the uptime, performance, and connectivity of our EV charging infrastructure and IT systems across all deployment sites.
Responsibilities
- Own the administration and day-to-day management of Loop's cellular network aggregator platform — including SIM provisioning, activation, deactivation, pooled data management, usage monitoring, and carrier escalations.
- Maintain relationships with cellular carrier representatives and vendor contacts to resolve escalated connectivity issues.
- Track and optimize SIM data usage across the network to manage costs and ensure service continuity.
- Monitor WAN connectivity across all deployed sites, proactively identifying and resolving cellular outages, data overages, or degraded connections.
- Manage cellular router configuration and firmware across the fleet, including Cradlepoint, Ubiquiti and In-Hand platforms.
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot cellular routers, Ubiquiti switches and access points, SIM-enabled devices, and associated field networking equipment at deployment sites.
- Coordinate with field and operations teams to ensure successful commissioning and network connectivity of new EV charging sites.
- Escalate unresolved hardware or software issues to engineering or vendor support teams with complete diagnostic documentation.
- Review site plans and electrical drawings to prepare wireless network deployment — evaluating cellular signal coverage, equipment placement, conduit routing for network cabling, and AP placement for optimal coverage.
- Identify potential connectivity risks at proposed sites (signal dead zones, interference sources, inadequate infrastructure) and recommend design modifications before installation.
- Conduct pre-deployment site surveys including cellular signal testing, access point range analysis, and cabling route reviews.
- Collaborate with customer and installer network engineering, deployment, and construction teams to ensure network design requirements are incorporated into site plans from the outset.
- Maintain and update Loop's networking design standards and site configuration templates based on field learnings.
- Build and deploy network enclosures, cellular routers, switches, and peripherals in a lab environment prior to deployment.
- Execute pre-deployment validation to verify and secure connectivity to management dashboards and EV chargers.
Qualifications
- Associate's degree or technical certification in Wireless Networking (e.g. CCNP Wireless), Information Technology, or related field — or equivalent hands-on experience.
- 3+ years of experience in wireless networking, WAN management, or field infrastructure support.
- Demonstrated experience managing cellular service, MVNO platforms and cellular data pooling (e.g., KORE, Granite, Teal, Aeris, or similar).
- Hands-on experience with cellular routers and WAN hardware including In-Hand Networks, Cradlepoint, and Ubiquiti UniFi equipment.
- Strong working knowledge of networking protocols and concepts — TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, NAT, and firewalls.
- Strong working knowledge of basic wireless principles and concepts — RF Fundamentals & Signal Behavior, Signal Metrics, Medium Access & Standards and, Wireless Security.
- Comfortable working independently in the field and traveling to EV charging sites as needed.
- Strong troubleshooting methodology, documentation habits, and communication skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience supporting EV charging hardware, OCPP-based systems, or similar IoT field infrastructure.
- Familiarity with wireless site plan review processes and ability to read electrical or civil drawings.
- Experience with cellular signal mapping tools and pre-deployment survey methodology.
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and helpdesk systems such as Jira or Salesforce.
- Exposure to cloud-based network monitoring platforms and fleet management dashboards.
- Knowledge of cellular carrier relationships, MVNOs, and SIM management best practices in a multi-site deployment context.
