About the role

A wireless test engineer evaluates and ensures the performance, stability, and compliance of wireless devices (Wi-Fi, 5G, 4G/LTE) by designing test plans, automating test cases, and troubleshooting RF issues. Test engineers are expected to develop scope, execute testing, analyze data, and report findings for requests on demand. Continuously monitors network KPIs using both in-house built dashboards and OEM developed network management systems, drive test collected data and subscriber experience information to identify performance improvements and implement solutions and network changes to improve coverage, latency, throughput and overall customer experience. Works with the cross-functional engineering and operations team to troubleshoot network problems. Reviews data to assist with determining issues root cause and resolution steps. Addresses customer and employee service experience issues.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates and ensures the performance, stability, and compliance of wireless devices (Wi-Fi, 5G, 4G/LTE)
  • Designs test plans and automates test cases
  • Trains and leads cross-functional engineering and operations team in troubleshooting network problems
  • Monitors network KPIs using both in-house built dashboards and OEM developed network management systems
  • Drives test collected data and subscriber experience information to identify performance improvements and implement solutions
  • Reviews data to assist with determining issues root cause and resolution steps
  • Addresses customer and employee service experience issues

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in RF engineering-related occupation
  • Prior experience working with iOS and Android automations (both on devices utilizing superuser and tethered)
  • Proficient knowledge of 5G NR, LTE, and Wi-Fi technologies
  • Thorough understanding of Android and iOS device settings and configurations
  • Experience working with data collection and postprocessing tools (e.g. Accuver XCAL/XCAP, Meritek, TEMS)
  • Comprehensive knowledge on android debug bridge and use of commands
  • Proficient knowledge of Wi-Fi, cellular, and network traffic protocols, including but not limited to: DNS, DHCP, QCI, 5QI, TCP/UDP/QUIC
  • Understanding of user experience, network quality, and prioritization
  • Highly motivated self-starter with acute attention to details
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
  • Ability to manage and deliver against several initiatives simultaneously
  • Ability to prioritize and organize effectively
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and electronically
  • Ability to travel for work
