Job Duties
- Part of a rapidly growing team responsible for PCBA design, component selection, wire harness designs, and validation testing.
- Should have exposure to a broad range of technical challenges and methods in the context of product development, including connector selection, cable shielding, twisted pair communication wires, cable protection, and harness routing.
- Cross-team collaboration throughout the product development organization is a critical part of this role, so systems-level thinking and multidisciplinary engineering problem-solving are key traits of a successful candidate.
- Work cross-functionally with Mechanical, Compliance, and Electrical engineers to define harness requirements, material, and connector selection
- Create and maintain 2D electrical harness single and multi-line schematics
- Draft fabrication, manufacturing, inspection, and assembly drawings for wire harness assemblies
- Identify suitable materials and components for wire harness assembly
- Work closely with procurement teams to source materials and components from approved suppliers
- Define routing, shielding, wire color, sealing, and EMI design specifications
- Collaborate closely with mechanical engineers on wire harness CAD routing through mechanical features and harness fixation points
- Troubleshoot wire harness bring-up and validation
- Communicate project progress, challenges, and solutions effectively to team members and management.
Knowledge/Skills/Education/Experience
- A Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical OR Electrical Engineering
- 2+ years" experience in product development (experience in energy storage or renewable energy is a plus)
- Hands-on experience designing and building electro-mechanical systems and harnesses
- Expertise with 3D CAD, PLM, and Harness design software such as Zuken E3
- Proven expertise in 2D drawing creation software
- Strong knowledge of industry-specific regulations and standards (e.g., UL, IPC)
- Familiarity with reading electrical schematics
- Experience with twisted pair and shielding for communication harnesses
- Experience working with weather-sealed connectors
