About the role
The Promontory Winery Ambassador reports to the Director of Hospitality and is based at Promontory Winery in Oakville, California. Promontory Winery is known for its unique wines and exceptional guest experiences, combining modern winemaking techniques with traditional methods.
Responsibilities
- Host guests and provide authentic visits and tastings on property.
- Curate the experience to the individual interests of guests without compromising the core values of the Harlan Domain.
- Follow a choreographed but not scripted visit layout.
- Build rapport with guests through open-ended questions and share information about the winery's land, philosophy, wines, and approach.
- Encourage guests to acquire wines, join the allocation list and The Founder’s List.
- Practice responsible hospitality at all times.
- Coordinate sales and wine delivery with relevant departments.
- Support with set-up and breakdown of visits and tastings.
- Maintain pristine conditions throughout the winery.
- Capture necessary metrics to assist the Director of Hospitality in evaluating the overall performance of the hospitality program.
- Identify and assist with designing constant improvements to the guest experience at Promontory.
- Aid in building the mailing list with qualified subscribers by developing relationships with local referral networks and attending on-site and off-site events.
- Collect, record, and update the database with personal, preference, and purchase history information on all guests at the property.
- Send handwritten, personalized thank you notes after each visit and tasting.
- Assist with coordinating the winery hospitality schedule.
- Support the Director of Hospitality with inventory and maintenance needs for the property.
- Assist with inventories of wines in the tasting locations.
Requirements
- A minimum of 4 years of luxury guest or member relations experience.
- A college degree preferred.
- A passion and knowledge of wine, food, and agriculture, with a willingness to broaden knowledge.
- Strong interest in professional wine tasting and wine service skills.
- A breadth of interest across many subjects and depth of knowledge with a desire to continue learning.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, CRM Dynamics, Navision.
- A willingness and ability to lift and handle materials weighing up to 40 pounds, stand for extended periods, and perform other related duties.
