About the role

The Water Grill is a renowned seafood establishment in Southern California, known for its exceptional culinary offerings and outstanding customer service.

Responsibilities

• Guide guests through a wine experience that exceeds their expectations.
• Pair wine and food for guests as requested or as helpful.
• Service wine in an expert manner, including proper pouring and decanting technique.
• Manage inventory and update the wine list.
• Build guest notes database to better serve guests.
• Ensure cleanliness and organization of wine storage areas.
• Participate in ongoing crew wine education.
• Perform additional service duties as needed.

Requirements

• Minimum of 21 years of age.
• High school graduate, some college.
• Level 1 Court of Masters, WSET level 2, or equivalent certification.
• Current CA Food Handler’s Card.
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English.
• Ability to add guest notes to Open Table database.
• Ability to open all wine/champagne bottles with ease.
• Knowledge of major winemaking regions, vineyards, styles, vintages, and producers.
• Understanding of state liquor regulations.

Qualifications

• Complete knowledge of proper glassware and decanting technique.
• Maintain knowledge of characteristics, pricing, and descriptions of wines.
• Ability to describe characteristics, pricing, and descriptions of wines.
• Ability to ring in and track orders.
• Ability to ensure wine glasses and decanters are clean and available.
• Ability to assist with inventories and wine ordering as directed.
• Ability to attend to guests who are not satisfied with the product or service.
