About the role
The Water Grill is a renowned seafood establishment in Southern California, known for its exceptional culinary offerings and outstanding customer service.
Responsibilities
- Guide guests through a wine experience that exceeds their expectations.
- Pair wine and food for guests as requested or as helpful.
- Service wine in an expert manner, including proper pouring and decanting technique.
- Manage inventory and update the wine list.
- Build guest notes database to better serve guests.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of wine storage areas.
- Participate in ongoing crew wine education.
- Perform additional service duties as needed.
Requirements
- Minimum of 21 years of age.
- High school graduate, some college.
- Level 1 Court of Masters, WSET level 2, or equivalent certification.
- Current CA Food Handler’s Card.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English.
- Ability to add guest notes to Open Table database.
- Ability to open all wine/champagne bottles with ease.
- Knowledge of major winemaking regions, vineyards, styles, vintages, and producers.
- Understanding of state liquor regulations.
Qualifications
- Complete knowledge of proper glassware and decanting technique.
- Maintain knowledge of characteristics, pricing, and descriptions of wines.
- Ability to describe characteristics, pricing, and descriptions of wines.
- Ability to ring in and track orders.
- Ability to ensure wine glasses and decanters are clean and available.
- Ability to assist with inventories and wine ordering as directed.
- Ability to attend to guests who are not satisfied with the product or service.
